sad meta - violence and strangulation

rashaka:

If fandom wants to talk about Bellamy trauma let’s get real for a minute and discuss the violence everyone seems to forget about, the one that is a recurring, life threatening torture and probably what keeps him up at night: choking to death.

Season 1 - He is hung by the neck, and almost dies. He survives with the help of his friends, but it is the closest he’d ever come to death on screen at that point. Murphy forces him to step into the noose himself.

Season 2 - He is enslaved by Mount Weather, and given a massive, heavy metal collar around his neck. He is held down by that collar and abused and beaten and drugged and caged and blood-drained. He survives with the help of an ally.

Season 3 - He is attacked by thrall-Kane who grabs his neck and attempts to choke him to death. Again, Bellamy is dying. Again, he is losing air, and again, his neck is choked till he can’t breathe, till his windpipe is probably being crushed, this time by his mentor. Not 5 months since he was hung to die. Not even 4 months since he was collared as a slave. He surivives with the help of Clarke, Murphy, and Abby breaking the spell.

Bellamy probably has PTSD and he probably has a phobia about choking to death. It probably terrifies him. It’s probably how he imagines himself dying in his nightmares. If you talk about his trauma but you don’t talk about strangulation then you’re avoiding the massive canon elephant in the room.
